Title: Vultee V-1A

The Vultee V-1A was a single-engined monoplane all-metal airliner designed in the 1930’s by Gerald Vultee.using a retractable tailwheel undercarriage and a Wright Cyclone radial engine. Around 25 examples were built and used by American Airlines and a number of other small airlines and executive operators. A large percentage of the aircraft eventually ended up in Spain during the civil war where none survived.

A single example survives, s/n 25 which was restored almost single-handedly by Harold Johnston in Pueblo, Colorado in the 1970’s and which won a number of awards including 1971 EAA Grand Champion. This aircraft now resides at the Shannon Air Museum near Fredricksburg, Virginia.

This title contains the manufacturer’s service manual (there probably wasn’t a flight manual in 1934) and an interesting monograph produced in the 1970’s by the restorer of the sole remaining example giving the history of that aircraft, the V-1A in general and the fate of all production aircraft. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
