Title:  Saab 18

The Saab 18 twin-engine monoplane reconnaissance bomber was developed by Swedish company Saab in response to a 1938 Flygvapnet requirement for a fast reconnaissance aircraft to replace the Junkers Ju86. It first flew in June 1942 and entered service in 1944. The first variant, the B18A powered by licence built R1830 Twin Wasp engines quickly became the standard Flygvapnet bomber aircraft, also serving in the reconnaissance and ground attack roles.

The B18A was considered underpowered, and as the more-powerful Daimler-Benz DB605 in-line liquid-cooled engine became available they were incorporated into an improved variant known as the B18B. Between 1944 and 1948, approx. 245 examples of both variants were built and the last examples were retired in 1959 when replaced by the Saab Lansen. A single example of the B18B remains preserved in the FlygvapenMuseum.

This title contains the Swedish Air Force (Flygvapnet) flight manual for the Saab B18A variant and the descriptive manual for the Saab B18B variant in six parts (all in Swedish), except part 1 is for the B18A variant, along with a manufacturer’s leaflet for the Saab B18A. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages unless otherwise stated.
