ROCKWELL RANGER 2000 (DASA FR-06) JPATS
$9.95
Title: Rockwell Ranger 2000 (DASA FR-06)
JPATS was a joint USAF/USN program for a new primary training aircraft. Rockwell was one of 7 contestants who responded to the 1994 request for Proposals, entering the Ranger 2000. This was a single turbofan engined low-wing tandem two-seater based on the RFB Fantrainer, and developed in conjunction with Deutsche Aerospace (where its official designation was DASA FR-06).
The prototype first flew in January 1993, but a second prototype was lost in an accident in July 1993. Although contemporary reports suggested the Ranger 2000 was a frontrunner the JPATS contest was won by the Pilatus PC-9 built under licence by Beechcraft. Only three Ranger 2000 prototypes were built, one of which survives at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum.
This title contains the manufacturer’s Pilot’s Operating Handbook and LBA approved airplane flight manual for the Ranger 2000, and two engineering documents produced in support of their JPATS submission. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages. (Aircraft photo courtesy of Volker Hilpert.)
