Title: Piaggio P180 Avanti

The P180 Avanti was designed at the beginning of the 1980’s as a “new-generation” aircraft, and is the first commercial aircraft with three lifting surfaces. The advantages of this configuration can be seen by the small size of the tailplane, and it is claimed the aircraft has jet-like performance but with much greater cost efficiency due to less drag and lower fuel burn. For example, it is 100 knots faster than a Super King Air 200 which is of similar size and uses the same engines.

Gates Learjet was initially a partner in the program and was responsible for design of the fuselage, but they dropped out in 1986 due to financial problems. A revised Avanti II was certificated in 2005 and over 240 had been delivered by 2020. Despite the apparent advantages of the aircraft, the program has relied on Italian government assistance to remain in existence in the form of orders for the Italian military and development of an unmanned variant.

This title contains the complete flight manual for the Piaggio P180 Avanti II, comprising the Airplane Flight Manual and the separate Pilot’s Operating Handbook, plus two manufacturer’s colour brochures for the original Avanti. The flight manuals have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
