MARTIN AM-1 AM-1Q MAULER

Title: Martin AM-1 Mauler

The Martin AM-1 Mauler was designed during WW2 as a carrier-based attack aircraft and first flew in 1944. However development problems meant the aircraft did not enter service until 1948. The US Navy ultimately preferred the smaller and simpler AD Skyraider and AM-1 orders were cancelled with only 151 eventually being built. 18 of these were converted to AM-1Q electronic warfare aircraft

The AM-1 was a heavy-handling aircraft with poor landing characteristics and was nicknamed “awful monster” by pilots. These handling issues and maintenance problems led to the type’s withdrawal from front-line service in 1950 and final retirement in 1953.

This title contains the US Navy flight manual and maintenance manual for the Martin AM-1 Mauler. The flight manual also covers the AM-1Q electronic warfare variant. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
