Title: Lavochkin La-9 and La-11

The Lavochkin La-9 was superficially similar to the earlier La-7 but was an all-new design featuring an all-metal airframe and a laminar flow wing. The weight savings over the earlier wooden design allowed a larger fuel capacity and increased armament. The prototype first flew in 1946 and 1558 more examples were built between 1946 and 1948.

The Lavochkin La-11 aircraft was produced by removing two (of four) cannons from the La-9 design and increasing the fuel capacity. Both types were one of the last piston-engined fighters developed before the widespread adoption of the jet engine, but they retained the typical Russian characteristic of poor high-altitude performance. This let to their rapid retirement from the Russian air force, but they remained in service in China and North Korea well into the 1960’s.

This title contains the Russian technical description manual for the La-11 and the Service Manual for both types. The files have been scanned from the original manuals unless otherwise stated.
