Title: Douglas YC-132 Project
The YC-132 was a 1950’s USAF program for a large sized military transport aircraft, able to carry three times the payload of the C-124, then the largest US military transport aircraft.
The contract was awarded to Douglas in 1952 and a full scale mock-up had been built by 1954. However there were reportedly problems with the development of the new T57 engine and other controversy with the USAF and allocation of funds for the program, and the program was officially cancelled on 20 March 1957.
The cancellation occurred long before any manuals would have been produced for the aircraft. This title includes the final Project Status Report for the Douglas YC-132, issued two weeks after the cancellation. Originally classified Confidential, it contains a summary of the project, details of the mockup and a complete description of the engineering of the aircraft. The file has been scanned from the original manual and retains any colour pages.
