Title: De Havilland DH93 Don
The De Havilland Don was a single-engined wooden monoplane designed to an Air Ministry specification for a multi-role trainer and first flew in 1937. It utilised the new inverted V12 Gypsyking engine (one of only two types to use the engine). Although a streamlined and aesthetically pleasing aircraft it was probably one of the least successful De Havilland types.
Military trials showed the aircraft was unsuitable for the intended role and the initial order for 250 was cut to 50, with 30 of those being supplied as engineless training airframes. The remaining examples were used as communications aircraft until also being grounded in 1939 to also be used as training airframes.
This title contains the RAF Air Publication Volume One (Descriptive & Servicing Handbook) for the Don, (it was too early to have pilot’s notes). The file has been scanned from the original manual and retains any colour pages.
