AVRO 696 SHACKLETON

$9.95

Titles: Avro Shackleton No’s 1 to 3

The Avro Shackleton was a British long-range maritime patrol aircraft, developed by Avro from the Avro Lincoln bomber with a new fuselage. It was originally used primarily in the anti-submarine warfare and maritime patrol aircraft roles, and later adapted for airborne early warning. It served the RAF from 1951 until 1990. It also served in the South African Air Force from 1957 to 1984.

First flown in 1949, a total of 185 were built. The initial version was the MR.1, followed by the MR.2 which introduced various changes brought on by operational experience, including re-location of the radome. The MR.3 variant, the only version exported, had new weapons and navigation equipment plus utilised a tricycle type undercarriage. As weight crept up, it became necessary to add auxiliary jet engines to maintain performance, and Mk2 and Mk3 variants so modified were known as “Phase 3”.

We offer three titles on this aircraft covering most variants of the Shackleton operated by the RAF. Each title is US$9.95. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages.
