Title: Lockheed AH-56A Cheyenne

The Lockheed Cheyenne was an advanced attack helicopter under development for the US Army, using an advanced compound configuration using a 4 bladed rigid rotor, low mounted wings and a tail mounted thrusting propeller. 10 development aircraft were ordered in 1966 and the first example flew in September 1967.

The US Army awarded a production contract in 1968 after initial flight testing showed promise. However technical problems and a fatal accident resulted in cancellation of the production contract. Lockheed continued with flight testing in the hopes the aircraft would enter service, but changes in Army requirements in favor of a twin-engined craft and the winding down of the Vietnnam war led to cancellation of the whole program. Only the 10 aircraft were built.

This title contains the preliminary flight manual for the Cheyenne along with two Lockheed training manuals. The files have been copied from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages unless otherwise stated.
