Title: Republic XF-12 Rainbow
.The Republic XF-12 was developed during WW2 as a high speed high altitude reconnaissance aircraft but did not fly until February 1946, by which time the advent of the jet engine and the end of WW2 rendered it obsolete. It was optimised for aerodynamic efficiency and was an extremely sleek design.
Two prototypes were built, the second crashed during testing and the first ended it days as a target at the Aberdeen proving grounds. Republic proposed a high speed airliner derivative, the RC-2, but without the subsidies of military orders and with the ready availability of war surplus transports, the project was cancelled.
This title contains a photocopy of the flight manual for the XF-12 along with a manufacturer’s brochure on the proposed RC-2 airliner. The files have been scanned from the original flight manuals and retain any colour pages unless otherwise stated.
